Show 7/20/13: Tuna, Public Land Use and Marine Area 9 Salmon

A blue fin tuna caught by John Childs

We’re jammed packed on this addition of the show as things are heating up in the Pacific Northwest.  Salmon are staging, tuna are boiling and hunters might see some help coming on our Federal lands.  We get things started with Shimano/G. Loomis Pro, John Childs on what’s up with the tuna fishing on the coast.  John had a 33 fish outing earlier in the week including two Blue Fins!  He’ll break down where he’s finding fish and how he’s stacking them up.  In segment two, Tom Nelson of the Outdoor Line in Seattle brings us a fresh report from the carnage that is Area 9 in Puget Sound.  This fishery has gotten off to a great start and Tom will fill us in on the whys and hows.  Finally, Brian Jennings, a great friend of the show and the Oregon Communications Director for Back Country Hunters and Anglers will by to talk about Federal land use and what the issue means for fishermen, hunters and for the economy in the state of Oregon.  In addition to the segment, Brian also did a nice Op Ed on the subject that you’ll want to check out.

Thanks for tuning in!
